What is coworking?

Coworking is an arrangement in which independent people from different companies share a fully furnished office space. It allows cost savings and convenience through shared infrastructures such as desks, meeting rooms, fully decked out kitchens, cleaning services, meeting rooms, high-speed internet, free car parks, etc.

Flexibility is an important benefit that coworking offers. Instead of being locked into a strict legal contract for many years to come, coworking typically is an all-inclusive subscription that you can cancel on short notice. You can upgrade and downgrade your subscription as you see fit for your business and personal circumstances.

Instead of being called a "tenant" which clearly refers to a tenant vs landlord dichotomy, coworking brings "members" together around a common purpose or idea that fosters collaboration. People are equals. There are no power structures or hierarchies.

The community is probably an intangible, yet highly valued benefit of coworking. Each coworking space has its own energy or vibe. At best, you join a space where there is a positive buzz in the air. It helps you lift your game and perform at your best thanks to the people you surround yourself with.

It's up to you to identify what place feels right for you.
